My name is Zena Saleh. I am a general surgery resident who was in Gaza between April 15- to May 2. I met an amazing woman named Maram Alaa Abu AlQomboz and am organizing a fundraiser for her. Please see her story below.
Hello, my name is Maram Alaa Abu AlQomboz. I am from Gaza and a dental intern. I received my degree from Alazhar University's College of Dentistry, and was in my internship year when the war started.
I am writing this after lots of thoughts and hesitation. But the urgency and need to rescue my family is greater than my resilience. I am desperately seeking your generous support to help me evacuate my family.
My family and I have been displaced 7 times since the aggression. We are now in tent "Elsoudi camp" that lacks the basic necessities of life: limited food, no clean water, no bathroom, no personal hygiene. We are living in an open prison. We are living our worst nightmare with our eyes open!
This genocide has been too hard to bear, and our lives are in constant danger.
We have reached a point where there is no hope left for us here in Gaza where we are unfortunately just waiting for our turn to die and even if there is a ceasefire, the destruction in Gaza is beyond prompt repair.
The money is to help me and my family evacuate from Gaza, with no other use of it, as we need to pay $5000 for each one to cross the border to Egypt! Every dollar brings us one step closer to surviving.
