Support Marcie Stoyke: A Community Hero in Need
Donation protected
Marcie Stoyke, past owner of Amazing Grace Bakery and Café, is asking for your help.
She gave to our community by keeping this Duluth icon up and running for many years. She worked tirelessly to offer a place for people to feel welcome. She provided employment and trained many people in their first ever jobs. She featured local musicians, sponsored events, and came up with the $5 recession lunch when times were tough. When the Grace’s coffers ran dry, Marcie took out loans to prop it up, using her own home as collateral.
Then along came COVID and there went her source of income.
Now Marcie is 71 years old, has chronic health problems and too many bills. She picks up odd jobs when she can, but it’s just not enough to meet all of her expenses.
Because she can no longer keep up with the old loan payments from the Grace, she has to sell her home. The business is gone, but the debt remains.
As an independent woman, it’s difficult for her to ask you for financial help. And though it breaks her heart to leave her quiet refuge in the country, this is the reality she is facing.
Remembering all Marcie has contributed to our community with her good heart, can you make a donation to help her move into this next phase of life with grace?
