Support Marco & Lora after wildfire disaster

On September 7, 2021, our family home and sanctuary of almost 20 years burned to ashes in the River Complex Fire. Everyone is safe, but our lives are forever changed. This fundraiser is created by Ana, Tonia, Brisa, and Makani on behalf of our parents Marco and Lora. Your generous donations will be used to help cover our parents' immediate costs, begin to replace some of their physical belongings, and create a small safety net as they emerge from this tragedy.

NEED SUMMARY

Marco and Lora (or "MarLo," as they're affectionately called) are not entitled to any insurance money for our home or belongings. Moreover, it is unclear what government programs they may qualify for, if any, given that they were not owners or technically renters of our home. Our parents were the caretakers of Almay Ranch, and we all lived in the managers' quarters on the ranch property.

We lost most of our belongings in the fire - furniture, art, silverware, clothes, kitchenware, electronics, and irreplaceable items like original photographs, family heirlooms, and so much more. Almay Ranch burning took our home and also threatens their livelihood - it is unclear when or if our parents will lose their jobs, given that Almay may no longer operate as a guest resort. We come from humble beginnings and have very limited financial resources to fall back on after this disaster.

It's challenging to put a dollar amount behind what's been lost and difficult to know how we'll move forward. Our parents are very independent, proud people - my sisters and I only ask for your help on their behalf because this is too immense of a challenge to overcome alone. In such a difficult time, we are deeply moved by all of you who feel called to support our family.
