Who We Are

Marés Dance Company is a collective of dancers specializing in Brazilian Zouk, Modern/Contemporary, and various dance styles; training under the leadership of Marissa Rivera.

We are dedicated to honing our craft and pushing the boundaries of dance. Marissa’s mission is to empower dancers from all walks of life to realize their full potential and embrace the joy of dance.

Our Team

We are a diverse group of Southern Californian dancers with a shared passion for Brazilian Zouk. Our company includes dancers with varying levels of experience in Zouk, contemporary, aerial arts, hip-hop and other movement modalities.

Some of the Marés' members are seasoned performers, while others are stepping onto the stage for the first time.

Together, we embrace our Zouk journey as we learn challenging new skills and grow in our craft under Marissa's expert guidance.

Our Journey

As we embark on Season 3, we are preparing for an exciting opportunity to compete at the prestigious Brazilian Zouk World Championship (BZWC).

The competition is held annually in Phoenix, Arizona. BZWC is a premier international event that draws Zouk enthusiasts from around the globe. The championship features workshops, social dancing events, and competitions across various categories, showcasing the incredible talent and artistry of Zouk dancers.

How You Can Help

Your support is crucial to our success. By contributing to our fundraiser, you will help cover essential expenses such as:

Costumes: Custom-made by a talented local artisan, Eva Angelina, these costumes are integral to our performance. Cost $200 - 350 per person ~ $3850 total

Competition Fees: Participation in BZWC involves significant entry fees, and your contribution will ensure we can compete at our best. Participate Pass: $180 per person; Team Entry Fee: $64 ~ $1980 total

Lodging: The official Hotel for BZWC is The Scott Resort & Spa. $300 - $400 per person for the weekend when rooms are split with the team. ~$3,300 - $4,400
