Support Maria and Brandon After Infant Loss

Hi, my name is Julia. I’m organizing this for my sister, Maria, and her husband, Brandon.

August 21st, 2023 started at 5:56am with a text message from my sister: “MY WATER BROKE! Heading to the hospital now!” Over the next 25 hours, what should have been the happiest moments of their lives & a joyful day for our families quickly turned into the worst possible nightmare.

After a full day of laboring, unforeseen complications arose and Maria was rushed into an emergency c-section, without Brandon, where it revealed that their son, Cash Walker Parks, had died. She was reunited with her husband where they had to face this unthinkable news together.

As if grieving the death of their firstborn child was not enough, Maria’s condition quickly deteriorated. She was rushed into another surgery, then the ICU, and after her bleeding was unable to be controlled, she was taken into a 3rd surgery for an emergency hysterectomy, removing the hope of ever carrying another child.

Maria and Brandon are choosing to move forward with hope. After everything they’ve been through, this is the brave option. They are now forced into a new way of family planning that they never even considered as two healthy, young people.

The medical bills from Maria’s 3 surgeries and ICU & hospital stay, plus the subsequent therapy, are just the tip of this financial iceberg. Egg retrieval and freezing, surrogacy, and the medical bills associated with that process are piling up quickly.

I am hopeful we can lessen this burden so they can focus on healing their hearts and the hope that the surrogacy process is offering them.
