Maria Sola Green Space in the South Bronx is a vital asset to our community's well-being! Local Mott Haven residents having access to green space for relaxation, rejuvenation and restoration is crucial now, more than ever!
The garden has been a gift to us particularly this year as we maneuvered our way through the pandemic and protested for justice. We’ve created a space for young and old to run free, and for people to sit down and breathe. This corner of land is an oasis of nature and good people that never fails to help prioritize what is important in life:
-Nature and access to the earth
-Gathering together with family and community
Maria Sola does not receive any funding from city or state agencies. All plants, and materials are acquired through grants from foundations or donations from area residents. All work, maintenance, building and projects are done by local volunteers.
We are asking for donations by November 7th to help with the following expenses:
Portable restroom rental and maintenance
Insurance policy
Necessary tools
Plants for next planting season
Building supplies for ongoing projects
We understand the current economy and pandemic may be affecting many, so please donate what you can. We are grateful for each contribution, which will help us to preserve this invaluable community oasis!
