AN ANGEL NEEDS TRAVEL EXPENSES PAID FROM HOUSTON, TX TO ROMANIA.
Maria Vitca has been fighting for her life since September 2023 when she was diagnosed with Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Appendix, a rare and aggressive cancer type. Following an appendectomy in Miami, FL, Maria learned of her diagnosis in September 2023. In an effort to shrink the cancer and prepare for a surgery, only available in the US, Maria battled through two different chemotherapy regimens over six months at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. In June, during the abdominal surgery, more cancer was discovered behind Maria's liver in a location that was undiscoverable on a CT scan.
After recovering from the surgery, Maria moved her treatment from Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX for an aggressive clinical trial with stem cells.
Unfortunately, the stem cell clinical trial was unsuccessful. Maria's cancer has taken over and in recent days she has become mostly unconscious. Ivan, Maria's husband, is at her side in the hospital in Houston, TX.
In the coming days, Maria will lose her cancer battle and her wish is to be laid to rest with her parents in Petroșani, Romania. The cost to move Maria from Houston, TX to Romania will be $15,000.
