Support Maricris in Caring for the Millete Children

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,

My name is Jane Onorato and I’m writing on behalf of Maricris Drouaillet who was recently granted guardianship of her youngest sister Maya Milette’s three children (ages 14, 13, and 7).

Maya has been missing since January 7, 2021, and her husband, Larry, was later arrested and charged with her murder. Larry’s parents were initially granted temporary custody of the children but were unable to provide the necessary emotional and mental care that they need. In response, Maricris quickly took action and filed a petition for guardianship to ensure the children’s well-being. Despite the financial challenges that this brought on, it didn’t deter Maricris from fighting for what’s in the best interest of the children. With the help of pro bono legal services, community donations, and personal funding, she was able to pay for all case-related expenses. The process took 3 long years but with the grace of God, the court granted Maricris guardianship of the Milette kids earlier this month. They now reside with Maricris and her husband, Richard, in Riverside County, 90 miles north of the Millete’s home in Chula Vista, CA.

As they begin this new chapter, the family could use more help and financial support. They are undergoing necessary therapy that is costly and must purchase essential items like clothes, shoes, backpacks, bikes, toys for the youngest one, and more. These kids have been through unimaginable trauma, and your generosity can help them start to heal.

Maya was a close childhood friend, and her family has always been like my own. The family prefers to not ask for help but being a mother of 3 myself, I know firsthand how expensive raising kids can be and how it really takes a village to raise kids the right way. So with their blessing, I’ve organized this fundraiser on their behalf. All donations will go directly to Maricris to support the Milette children as they begin their healing journey.

With gratitude,
Jane Onorato
