Support Mario's Recovery and Lauren's Fight

On December 19, 2024, my brother-in-law, Mario, was taken by EMS to the hospital with a fever of 105 after being sick in bed for two weeks. After many tests and scans, doctors deduced that his condition was caused by a change in medication for his ulcerative colitis, which was causing his liver to fail. To counteract this, Mario was given a concoction of medications that he had a severe allergic reaction to, causing a rash and swelling all over his body that was severe enough to need the burn unit called in.
During one of his surgeries, the surgeon made an error and cut his liver, causing internal bleeding, which resulted in him being moved to the ICU on Dec. 25. Many surgeries, tests, procedures, and complications later, Mario was finally released to recover at home on Jan. 3, 2025. However, his fight is long from over as he has multiple doctor's appointments and physical therapy every week. Mario works in construction and is unable to return to work for the foreseeable future. He does not have medical insurance, and his wife, Lauren, is also self-employed, owning and operating her own successful cleaning company.
Lauren is also currently battling her THIRD round of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and has not taken a day off throughout her own illness over the last three years.
Lauren and Mario share 4 children and have a great financial burden ahead of them with mortgage payments, medical bills, and everyday expenses. They are a hardworking couple and have been doing their best to hold their heads above water, but the bills are piling up, and now Lauren’s vehicle is down and needs a new transmission. This vehicle is her way to and from her jobs, and a transmission just isn’t in the budget now.
Lauren and Mario have worked their way up in life through blood, sweat, and tears, and they’ve never been ones to ask for help, but I know this situation is dire for them without it. Please help this family get through this difficult time.
Thank you!
