Support Mark Collard (Wal) get back on his feet!

Mark Collard (Wal) became ill on Thursday 28th September. His brother took him to hospital at Wyong early the next day where he was admitted. He was placed in ICU that afternoon and later that night transferred to Gosford ICU where he underwent surgery.

Mark was diagnosed as having iGAS (invasive Group A Streptococcal disease). This infection got into his blood (sepsis) and was attacking his kidneys and lungs. The main location of this infection was behind his knee. This is where surgery took place. Mark was placed in a coma with life support and on dialysis.

To this day (Tuesday 10th Oct) he has had 6 surgeries, the hardest one being on Friday 6th Oct where he went into cardiac arrest during surgery and needed resuscitation. At this point, he lost a lot of blood and had multiple transfusions. He went back into surgery again the next morning (Saturday 7th Oct) where doctors were going to remove his leg.

Now some good news! Through much prayer from a multitude of people, his loving and gracious Heavenly Father has performed a miracle on Wal. His leg had cleared of the infection! What a God we have, hey!

Please support Mark and his two boys in any way possible. He still has more upcoming surgery. Next, doctors will start the process of rebuilding his leg. He has been incised from his ankle to his buttocks and will need many skin grafts to close his leg. Then he will start rehabilitation. All this will take months, and he will be unable to work for quite some time, but we are so thankful that Wal is still with us after all he’s been through.
