Hello everyone,

This GoFundMe is dedicated to an incredible family, Mark, his wife, Annie, and their three girls. For those who don’t personally know the Guesses, this family is one of the good ones. They serve our community with glad and joyfully hearts. Mark is the Chaplin for our local police department and holds a full time job in the marine industry and Annie is the office manager for a local church. So the saying is true that bad things do happen to wonderful people.

On October 26th, Mark, Annie, and their youngest daughter were playing basketball, enjoying a beautiful fall day. Right before leaving the courts, Mark fell backward landing on his left hand. Upon impact, Mark broke both bones in his forearm, completely dislodging his hand from his arm. Mark was rushed to the ER where emergency surgery was completed to reset the open fracture, and close the open wound due to the puncture. On Nov. 1st, Mark returned to the hospital for reconstructive surgery to permanently secure the break with a titanium plate and eight screws.

As of now, the total cost for Mark’s medical care is $70,985.14. This includes both surgeries and the initial ER visit. There are still unknown costs for his physical therapy once the hand is healed.

Unfortunately, at the time of the accident Mark did not have catastrophic medical insurance and is now faced with carrying the burden of this expense. If you’ve ever experienced medical debt you know how crushing this is for their family.

With all that said, what a great opportunity we have to be the hands and feet of Jesus to serve and love our neighbor by helping them bear the burden of this season. I look forward to the day when they see this bill completely paid off.
