Support Mark Murphy After Cheryl's Passing
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Amber. My wonderful mother passed away in June after a brutal battle with what was diagnosed as Stage 4 lung cancer that metastasized into her spinal column and bones, causing much pain and fragility.
My stepfather, Mark Murphy was her constant guiding light and rock, her partner through the journey. Though they found each other later than they would have liked, they have both told me it has been the greatest seven years of their lives. I watched my mom who had been a quiet, laid back, easy-going person my whole life blossom into a giggling, free-spirited wild-child as she found happiness and explored life and the world with Mark. They went on adventures, played with their dogs, collected rocks, and talked forever. He was her best friend, and she talked about him with the deepest love.
Mark was by her side every step of the way. On top of doctor and hospital visits, hours from their house, multiple times a week, he added accessibility features in the house, took care of their two gentle giants, and tended to her every need. I couldn't imagine a truer friendship or devotion.
Mark has been incredible support to my mom, and myself through this, while also keeping up with and supporting those around him. He could use our support now. Neither he nor my mom were able to work after her diagnosis, and cancer treatment is not cheap. Along with medical bills, gas for thousands of miles driven, medications, and everyday living his home also needs repairs for safety standards. The heavy rain and heat in Martinsville, VA have caused yard erosion, deck rotting, and HVAC system damage. This, along with everyday essentials, adds up fast and I would like to extend my invitation to support an incredible man through a very difficult time. Any donations or words of support are truly appreciated and will go straight to Mark to settle medical bills and past expenses.
We thank those who have been support through this difficult journey, and encourage Cheryl's memory to bring light and happiness into your life, as it does for us every day.
