Support Marn and His Family Through His Health Crisis
Donation protected
Hi everyone, this is Sherry (Sherryjenix), posting on behalf of Marn and his family. Apologies for the photo above, but this is Marn's current state.
Two weeks ago, I received a text message from Marn updating me with his current health situation. He said he wasn't feeling well and was currently at the hospital waiting to be checked out. When I texted him back and asked if he had any updates, I didn't hear anything back from him.
A day later, I was contacted by Marn's brother. He informed me that Marn's health took a turn for the worst while he was waiting to be checked out. Marn ended up in a medically induced coma to help his body recover from a serious bacterial infection called Melioidosis, causing him to have pneumonia. He was put on a ventilator to help maintain his oxygen levels while sedated with 30+ other medications. They found many underlying conditions while he was infected, including early kidney disease, indicating diabetes.
For those who aren't updated with Marn's current living situation, he's living in Vietnam. Unfortunately, Marn was part of layoffs last year (he still had an American job) and lost his health insurance through work. Vietnam also does not have their own support system for health insurance.
As of Day 8 being in the hospital, his hospital bill totaled to $8,345.08USD. Doctors say he still needs an additional 7-10 days to continue fighting this infection.
Unfortunately, his family is unable to cover this bill, so they turned to our community for help. The $20,000 goal is hopefully enough to cover his hospital stay. Any funds after the donation goal has been reached will go directly to Marn's diabetes medication, which will be needed for the a significant amount of time for the near future.
Any form of help is significant, even if it's just a share of Marn's story. Thank you all for those who took their time to share and/or donate.
