Support Martha’s journey to Vision Restoration
Donation protected
I never imagined that one day I’d be writing this, but here I am, facing one of the toughest battles of my life.
On Saturday, October 5th, I received the most devastating call from my mother. She told me, "Jessica, I want you to know that I love you and the kids. I’ve just been shot in my eye while driving." I froze in disbelief. At first, I thought she was joking, but then she FaceTimed me. That’s when I saw my poor mother on the floor, fighting for her life. She is now in need of multiple surgeries to possibly restore her vision and heal the physical and emotional wounds this has caused.
My mother has always been the rock of our family—strong, kind-hearted, and selfless. She’s the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to someone in need, always putting others before herself. Whether it was caring for sick relatives, providing a roof over someone’s head, or just lending a comforting ear to a friend, she has spent her life spreading love and compassion to everyone around her.
The day of the accident is one I will never forget. A senseless act of violence left her in a world of pain and uncertainty. The bullet, which struck her in her right eye, caused severe damage. She’s already undergone one procedure, but the road ahead is long and uncertain, with several more surgeries required to save her eyesight and reconstruct the damage.
As much as we would like to handle things on our own, the medical bills are mounting, and the costs of these critical surgeries are far beyond what we can manage. That’s why I’m turning to the kindness of others for help. My mother has given so much to the world, and now she needs the world’s help in return. No donation is too small—every little bit will bring us closer to getting her the care she desperately needs.
Please consider supporting her on this journey to recovery. If you can’t contribute financially, sharing her story would mean the world to us. We are holding onto hope and believe that she can overcome this with the right help.
