Support Marti's Fight and Recovery

Donation protected
Marti has always been a vibrant and active individual, known for her love of outdoor adventures and her relentless pursuit of new experiences. However, life took an unexpected turn resulting in a critical decision that would change her life forever.

On February 17, Marti was diagnosed with Stage 1A breast cancer. It was a small lump. They removed the lump March 29th as well as 2 lymph nodes in her right armpit. The lymph nodes showed no cancer, so we were told she would only need 12 weekly doses of chemotherapy. She completed 8 weeks of chemo when she started not feeling well on June 8th. By June 10th, she was admitted to the ICU with a massive systemic staph infection in her soft tissue that went septic. She was very sick and we thought we were going to lost her, twice. The doctors saved her life BUT all of her blood was pushed from her extremities to her vital organs leaving her extremities without blood.

Marti's condition now requires amputation of her hands and legs below the knees. It is a daunting prospect, but Marti's unwavering spirit and the support of her loved ones will fuel her determination to face the challenge head-on. The next steps in her journey are crucial for her long-term health and well-being.

A comprehensive plan to ensure she receives the best possible care is coming together. It has been decided that she will head to North Carolina to receive care from renowned specialists with cutting-edge rehabilitation programs. Marti will embark on a 12-week program specifically designed to aid her recovery and adaptation to her new circumstances.

The program is intensive and tailored to address Marti's unique needs. It will encompass physical therapy, occupational therapy, and psychological support to help her regain as much independence as possible. The specialists in North Carolina are experts in prosthetics and adaptive technology, providing Marti with state-of-the-art prosthetic limbs and training her to use them effectively. In addition to the medical and therapeutic aspects, the program will also focus on Marti's mental and emotional well-being.

Marti's journey will not be easy, but her resilience and determination will shine through every step of the way. With the guidance and expertise of the specialists in North Carolina, we expect Marti will not only regain a significant degree of independence but will also discover a new sense of purpose and strength within herself.

As you can imagine, this specialized program has significant costs involved. We appreciate your financial support and love through her journey to gain back an active life with her husband, grandkids, friends, and family.

Marti has been a passionate nurse taking care of others for the past 8 years, she is a mom, grandmother, and loyal friend to many. It's now her turn for love and care from family and friends.

Thank you for your support and prayers!
