Support Mary Jane's Road to Recovery Post-Bar Exam Emergency

Hello! I am setting up this GoFundMe to help one of my best friends, Mary Jane, who has suffered tremendously this past week after going through a medical emergency during the July 2025 New York State Bar Exam. This GoFundMe is aiming to help cover the extensive medical bills that will certainly arise after she is discharged from the hospital.

On July 30, 2025, Mary Jane experienced a life-threatening medical emergency during the morning session of the New York State Bar Examination at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York. During the exam, Mary Jane collapsed from cardiac arrest. As other examinees recount online, when she suffered the medical emergency, exam proctors did not stop the exam to allow medical assistance to reach Mary Jane, despite other examinees around her pleading for help to save her life. Some accounts say that Mary Jane did not receive medical attention until the planned lunch break while others say public safety officers were allowed to administer CPR before EMS entered, which some examinees have said to be 7 to 10 minutes after her collapse. Stories shared that once the lunch break commenced, medical personnel were then able to reach Mary Jane to administer medical support and transport her to the closest hospital.

Although she was unable to receive immediate life saving measures at the time of the emergency, Mary Jane has thankfully returned to consciousness and is aware of what has transpired. It is unknown, yet, how long she will need to remain hospitalized, but she is recovering and hoping to return home very soon.

Mary Jane is one of a kind. She is brilliant, an award-winning writer, a 2025 graduate of Fordham Law School, and a former fashion designer. But beyond this, Mary Jane is a loving, caring, supportive, and hilarious wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. I have been lucky to know her strength since our first semester in law school, where we met. Even during the 10 weeks of bar exam preparation, Mary Jane was a consistent support, checking in on me every day - even on both bar exam days. She has been a pillar to many of other people's successes. Now, I humbly invite you to be a part of the pillar that boosts Mary Jane back up after this horrific and traumatizing moment in her and her family's life.
