*UPDATE 1/30: MaryPat is HOME, resting, thankful, staying positive and taking everything one day at a time. She still could use all the love and prayers you have.
*UPDATE 1/29: MaryPat passed her swallow test today and was finally able to drink some water and eat soft/liquid foods for the first time in NINE days. Of course, she remains in good spirits and sends her many thanks. She is truly overwhelmed and thankful for everyone’s love and support. Keep her in your prayers as she continues to take it one day at a time and let’s surpass our new goal for her.*
My name is Maggie, and I am just one the MANY proud friends of MaryPat Parson. MaryPat is known by so many for her kind, sweet, and loving spirit. She is known to have friends everywhere she goes because of just how infectious her smile and personality can be. She spends her days working hard, supporting others every chance she gets, and is an incredible daughter, sister, and aunt.
At just 32 years of age, MaryPat has recently been through over 13 hours of surgery for Salivary Gland Cancer. Her first surgery went well, but part of her facial/mouth skin graft did not take, so she needed to spend 6+ more hours in surgery the very next day. So far, she has gone 7 days without the ability to eat or drink. While she has made it through two very extensive and invasive surgeries, her road to recovery is just beginning. MaryPat will need radiation and physical therapy to continue to heal properly and get back to her old self. She will likely be out of work for months.
MaryPat has been unimaginably strong and brave throughout this process. She hasn’t asked for and never would ask for anything but prayers. But we as a community can give her more. She is going to need all the love and support she can receive during this time, even if that’s just a call, text, or message letting her know you are thinking of her. If there’s one thing I know about the community we grew up in, it’s that it is the most supportive and loving community of all time. You guys always show up when someone needs you, even if you’ve never even met the person in need. Thank you in advance for contributing to this recovery fund for everyone’s favorite girl.
