Support Matthew Bowling's Recovery Journey

Hello! My name is Savanna Smith. On Sunday, 2/23, my best friends (Meka Bowling) husband, Matthew Bowling, got into a four-wheeler accident where he collided into a tree head first. Matthew was taken to Franklin Memorial hospital when he was instantly airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. When Matthew struck the tree, a piece went into his right cheek, hit his eye, and then hit the frontal lobe of his brain. Matthew sustained many injuries from his accident - the loss of his right eye, skull fracture, brain bleed, jaw fracture, broken nose, broke temporal bone, a clot in his carotid artery, and a possible ruptured ear drum. Matt was taken into surgery late into the night of 2/23 to remove the piece of tree. He is currently stable, and responsive in the ICU at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Matthew has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but has an amazing support team.

A little bit about Matthew and Meka Bowling - Matt and Meka got married 12/12/2024 in their hometown of Franklin County, VA, where they reside together in Ferrum, VA. Prior to Matt's accident, he worked in a cabinetry shop. Matthew is a 20 year old who loves to be outdoors, spending time with his wife, and helping others whenever he can. Meka is 19 years old, and a sophomore at Ferrum College. Meka is currently studying elementary education, but it has recently come to a halt for the next few weeks/months due to Matt's accident. Meka is a part time employee at Kroger in Rocky Mount, VA, but is currently out of work to be by Matthews bedside.

This GoFundMe is going to cover the costs of medical bills due to the loss of insurance. Along with helping Meka cover gas to travel, food, and many other unexpected costs. Please know every donation is very appreciated.
