Support Matt’s Stroke Recovery & Living Expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lesley. On August 10, 2022, my brother Matthew Boeck suffered from an embolic stroke and spent four days in the ICU and three more at Palomar Hospital. He is home now dealing with a radically changed life. The good news is that his motor skills are good! There is no paralysis, he can walk, eat & feed himself, and he understands everyone completely– it is the language center that was affected and his left eye is blurry and his depth perception is all but gone. He cannot verbally communicate at this time and reading & writing is slow and difficult.
Matt is a hard-working, strong, and loving human with a stubborn streak and a great sense of humor. We are hoping that his stubbornness and humor will get him through this difficult time of recovery but we need your help too!
Matt recently relocated to the San Diego area and launched his own landscape irrigation business. If you know Matt, you know he can get a desert to look like a garden oasis– all with the least impact on the environment and the smartest use of water. Now, the stroke has put his business plans (and jobs he already lined up) on hold as he is unable to speak on the phone or use the computer to line up new clients. He cannot drive, much less visit job sites and wire up a new irrigation system. He will have no income until he is recovered, which the neurologist explained could take 3-9 months. Any reassurance for financial stability for the next three months will greatly reduce the stress of this traumatic event.
Please help Matt by contributing to his living expenses for the next three months. (He has no health insurance but trusts that the emergency MediCal will be approved in the next couple of weeks so, just suffice it to say, as of now, the medical bills are a whole different story!) If your contributions exceed his monthly expenses, we will use the money towards ongoing speech and physical therapy and any outstanding medical costs.
Matt’s positivity is admirable despite dealing with the loss of speech and eyesight as well as a new diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. We know that with his strength and determination he will soon get back to the best version of himself, but it will take time and medical assistance.
Matt and I truly thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support, prayer of healing, and well wishes have truly been bright spots in a pretty tough couple of weeks!
With love and gratitude- Lesley (and Matt)
