Support Maui journalists covering wildfires

UPDATE 8/21/23: Hello everyone - I wanted to provide you with another update on this fundraiser for staff of the Maui News. The big news is we surpassed $20,000 in donations. YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! This seemed like a good time to suspend donations so I can concentrate on getting the money to its intended target. On that front, GFM transferred an initial amount of $9,722.45 to my personal bank account. This morning I set up a wire transfer of those funds to an account at Maui Federal Credit Union managed by Wendy S.J. Isbell. GFM has asked me for additional information (some of which is included in this update) before releasing the rest of the money. I will provide further updates in this regard. Wendy is an advertising sales rep for the Maui News. She will dispense money directly to reporters, ad staff, pre-press operators and other staff to purchase food, essential gear - including personal protective equipment - and office supplies. Longer-term, the money can be used for housing assistance, trauma therapy and other essential needs. Any additional funds raised will be used to support local recovery efforts. Again, thank you so much for your generosity. I will report back again.
