Support Maxwell’s Recovery Journey!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are Maxwell’s parents, and we want to share our son’s courageous journey with you. Maxwell, our 9-year-old boy, has faced immense challenges due to phimosis and reoccurring urinary tract infections. For the past two years, he has endured pain and discomfort, often missing school and spending countless hours in hospitals and doctors appointments trying to find a resolution for him to live a normal life once again.

Recently, he underwent a circumcision to address the phimosis on the 16th of May, which has been a battle in itself trying to get a consultation seemed to never been in our reach. We have attended A&E countless times and was sent to Glangwili hospital urgently just over a week before the surgery. After multiple bladder scans they found that Maxwells bladder had in fact ballooned to the size of an adults and he was retaining nearly 500ml each time it was scanned and despite our desperate attempts nothing seemed to relieve it. Even after the surgery we had fought for two years for him to have his bladder issues persist, keeping him in the hospital so it can be investigated by Glangwili and Cardiff hospital paediatricians.

Nearly a week after his surgery and Maxwell is still in Glangwili hospital with a catheter as his bladder will not empty on its own. We have no idea what the next steps are for Maxwell or when he will be back to his normal self. Maxwell’s resilience has been nothing short of remarkable. Despite the pain, he continues to fight with unwavering determination. His love for drawing characters and playing Xbox games like Fortnite and Overwatch has been a lifeline during these difficult times. In his bedroom, where he spends most of his days, he finds solace in connecting with friends online, even when he can’t be physically present at school.

Our Plea: We stand before you, vulnerable and hopeful. We need your support to make this transformation possible. Maxwell deserves more than just medical care; he deserves a fresh start, comfort, joy, and a space that reflects his interests and passions. We want to raise funds to redecorate his bedroom a space that has seen both joy and struggle. We envision a new bed, soft carpet underfoot and a mattress as all of these items need urgent replacement as wetting himself has taken a toll. We would love to get him a desk and a chair so he can draw to his hearts content and compete his room. Additionally Maxwell needs new clothes as all of his clothing has been urine soaked and there is a lingering smell.

And let’s not forget the gift! Maxwell’s courage deserves celebration. Whether it’s a VR Headset, an Xbox game, a Lego set and a holiday would be a bonus or a heartfelt letter from well-wishers, we want to surprise him and remind him that he’s not alone in this journey.
