Support Makayla after a devastating loss

Makayla Cross is our friend, our neighbor, our family, our coworker. On September 27, Makayla and her family suffered a total loss from the destruction of hurricane Helene. Makayla and her family were awoken in the middle of the night by firefighters emergently executing a mandatory evacuation of the Swannona River Valley. Without delay, she and her husband TaMarcus scooped up their precious children Keagan, age 6, and Kamar, only 4 years old. They put the dogs in the car and drove through the storm dodging falling trees, downed power lines, high winds and waters to seek refuge. They escaped their home in the dark wading through water with children in their arms and the clothes on their backs. Everything else was lost, their cars, furniture, personal mementos, bicycles.The house literally washed away.

Makayla and TaMarcus grew up in this community. Makayla has been committed to helping people her whole life and is a dedicated and hard-working Certified Nursing Assistant who works closely with our nations greatest heroes. TaMarcus is a long-time employee of MB Marketing, spending long hours on the factory floor to support his family. Their boys love sports, especially basketball and baseball.

Makayla and her family desperately need help starting over. Our mission is to get them back into a safe home. The money we raise here will be used as a down payment for a new home and to replace items lost in the storm.

We kindly ask you to donate whatever you can. And YES donations of even $10 or $25 make a difference! Our area experienced such loss and tragedy, we understand many have given until they cannot give anymore. There are more ways to give. Simply sharing the fundraiser with family and friends will be huge to this campaign!
