Hello y'all from Charleston;
As most of you know, I moved from Washington, D.C. to Charleston, South Carolina several months ago. It was an emotional and challenging move for me as I left my family, adorable nieces and nephews, and amazing friends to begin this exciting new adventure in my life.
During my stay in our nation's capital, I was blessed with wonderful and well paying jobs that I am very proud of. However, there has always been a tugging at my heart to touch and empower those who were facing difficult and challenging seasons in their lives and work with a non-profit. I guess you could blame my parents for that!
Recently, I began volunteering for an incredible organization called “Thrive SC” which works with women facing domestic violence in South Carolina. Sadly, over the past several years, SC has been first in the nation for women murdered by their intimate partners at a rate more than double the national average.
Thrive's Mission Statement is, “To provide transitional housing and services, and holistic resources for Survivors of domestic violence and their families and to eradicate violence against women and children in the state of South Carolina.”
The Director of Thrive has asked me if I would consider a full time position as Development Coordinator with them, as she felt I would be a perfect fit for the organization. I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to work and minister with these precious women who are putting their lives back together after facing such troubling acts violence. No one should have to experience this!

As with all non-profits, finances are always a challenge and Thrive does not have the resources at this time to pay me a full time salary. However, they absolutely want me to come on board and are in desperate need of my assistance. In response to this, we have worked out a plan that I know can work.
This is where I need all your help!
They want me to increase my hours with them while they seek the funding to hire me full time. That could take several months. So during that time, I will be working one or two other part time jobs as well and asking all of my wonderful friends to partner with me to help raise $5,000 to augment the rest of my salary. This will allow me to cover all my living expenses while the resources are being secured for my full time employment.
Even though this is very scary for me, I have never felt more fulfilled and energized as I work to help to end the scourge of violence against women.
All the funds you donate will go directly into the Thrive bank account, and since they are recognized by the federal government as a 501c3 organization, all your gifts are tax deductible. Just click our safe and secure GoFundMe link to make a contribution.
Words cannot express how much I appreciate your prayers and financial support as you join with me in this exciting new chapter in my life!
Love all of you!
Tara
