Support my Tunisian street animals

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Carole. I moved to Tunisia in 2020, to live in my husband’s home. It breaks my heart to see so many abandoned cats and dogs living precarious lives on the streets without homes or health care.

One of my three black kittens at the vet’s now doing well.

Over the past five years I’ve been feeding and caring for as many of these poor animals as I can. I feed them and take them to our local vet to be vaccinated and neutered. Any sick or injured cats and kittens are bought to the vet; many with successful outcomes and others who are, sadly, too sick to survive. Currently I am caring for at least 20 cats, kittens and one street dog.

Many unwanted kittens and puppies are thrown onto the streets or into patches Their reliance on dustbins and discarded rubbish for food brings all sorts of diseases; without treatment they become increasingly sick and often die. Shockingly, it’s a problem of ever increasing numbers as unneutered animals are simply abandoned on the street to breed or to starve, without help or care . Of course, Rabies is an ever present risk: vaccination of street animals is important for them – and for us.

Here in Tunisia there are few who try to help, but little is done for long term animal welfare. I have managed to support this much needed work – but now I am fundraising to help the increasingly urgent plight of the many cats and kittens struggling to survive on streets near my home - and our one surviving street dog.

I take inspiration from the successful work carried out in Cyprus and the Greek Islands to neuter and vaccinate street animals. This can break the circle of disease, multiple pregnancies and abandonment. My aim is to neuter, vaccinate and feed as many animals as I can, and to widen and increase this much eeded initiative. Up to now I have managed to get 26 cats cats neutered and vaccinated against rabies and feline diseases.

Feeding, neutering and vaccinating all these animals has cost, and continues to cost a lot of money. They also have to be regularly treated for worms, ticks and fleas. If left untreated, they become very ill. I take them to the local vet when they become sick from the many animal illnesses which exist here in Tunisia. The cost of veterinary treatment in Tunisia costs a lot less than in the U.K and Europe, but as I am trying to help so many more, these costs mount up.

Every donation helps, no matter how small.
> £5.00 will buy 3 tins of cat food, or 4 kilos of chicken carcasses for Brandy, the dog. He gets one carcass a day mixed with some pasta and dog biscuits.
> Wet food for the cats costs about £6.00 a day .
> A 15kg bag of dry cat food costs about £60.00, which lasts about two weeks.
> It costs £40.00 to sterilise a female cat and and about £25.00 for a male, a vital service.

Please help me keep as many of our street animals as possible fed, neutered, happy and healthy!. All donations will be going to directly help our local street animals.

some of the cats and kittens I feed, sterile and vaccinate. Others are at the front of the block.

This is Csrlusha who I found as a tiny kitten crying on a wall as I was on my way to a shop. She climbed into my bag, went to sleep and I took her home. She’s been with us for 3 years now, is much loved and is Queen Bee and the boss of the house.
