Support Meagan Genco’s Fight Against Lymphoma!

Hello all, near and far.

Life can take unexpected turns, and sometimes those turns lead to unimaginable challenges. In 2022, Meagan became very sick and after many doctors’ visits, testing and a surgery, Meagan was diagnosed with end-stage Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in March of 2023. This was a shock to us all since Meagan was 27 at the time of her diagnosis. The news was hard, but we all had faith in her team of doctors at Roswell and because of her age, remission looked promising. After six months of treatment, she rang the bell on July 28th, 2023 to celebrate putting her cancer into remission. The doctor visits did not stop there, Meagan had monthly appointments for transfusions, and every two months, had lab work to ensure her cancer was at bay.

Fast forward to May of this year - Meagan went for her routine appointment for blood work and was happy to hear that all her levels were normal and the best they have been since her diagnosis. But then, about a month later she started getting sick again. Meagan was experiencing pain in her sternum, physically getting ill, and what she thought was a sprained ankle was later found to be a tumor in her leg. . . just like that her cancer was back.

A recent PET Scan revealed that the cancer has aggressively returned in multiple areas of her body, including her jaw, sternum, and both of her legs. This news is heartbreaking given that Meagan was going to be celebrating one year remission at the end of next month.

For those who do not have the pleasure of knowing Meagan, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and her sweet dog Oliver. She is a big Harry Potter fan, loves reading and writing (so much so she made a career of it!), her favorite season is fall, and she is a big Bills fan #GO BILLS! She is someone with a big heart and is always there for her friends, family, and students.

Even in the darkest, hardest times there is always a glimmer of light. The last few years have been a difficult road to navigate, Meagan has had her family and friends by her side. This has been immensely important as any cancer diagnoses can be mentally, physically, and financially draining. In the last two years Meagan started teaching at Panama Central School and is a 5th and 6th grade ELA teacher. She loves her students and being a teacher has brought so much joy to her life. Her district has been very supportive as she has navigated her cancer treatments.

Meagan and her boyfriend Cody celebrated their engagement last summer and have been joyfully planning their wedding for October of 2025. Cody has had his own health issues, having underwent a heart transplant in 2018. The experience he went through has given him a more appreciative view on life and what’s truly important. Cody has been a rock for Meagan, especially given his own experience with his health, we could not ask for a better person by Meagan’s side.

Meagan will start undergoing aggressive chemo-regimen that will consist of treatments every three weeks for a total of at least six months.

Due to this, she will not be able to work, and her and her fiancé Cody will need to travel frequently to Buffalo for her immense number of appointments and treatments at Roswell.

Through this all, she has handled this difficult process with positivity and grace. Any help for her and Cody to combat medical expenses, gas, hotel stays, and to insure they do not get behind on their day-to-day bills would be greatly appreciated by them and their families.

Your love, support, kind words and prayers mean the world to us as Meagan battles this next chapter in her cancer journey

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Sincerely and with love,

From the Genco, Adam, Johnson, and Aylor Family
