Support Medical Care for Rescued Champaign County Animals
Donation protected
Your contribution will help Champaign County Animal Control provide treatment for coccidia and giardia for the felines removed from a hoarding situation, as well as assist in the additional food and litter costs hoarding cases incur.
On November 22, 2024, Champaign County Animal Control was summoned to the address in southwest Champaign by the Champaign Police Department who had found animals living in deplorable conditions while investigating another criminal matter at the address.
Champaign County Animal Control Wardens located and removed thirty intact, adult felines of various ages and physical conditions and one bird. The interior of the home had excessive amounts of excrement, causing high levels of ammonia, making the home unsafe.
All thirty of the felines and one adult Budgie bird were impounded and taken to the Champaign County Animal Control facility, where staff provided examinations and treatment for severe flea infestation, skin lesions and abrasion.
Of the thirty felines surrendered by the owner, fourteen have been transferred to the Champaign County Humane Society and will be available for adoption once their health has been evaluated and cleared. Animal Control is providing medical care for the remaining felines who have lingering health issues that must be resolved before they can be adopted.
The owner has been charged with cruelty to animals and has a tentative court appearance in January 2025.
Champaign County Animal Control is accepting donations to support the medical costs of the felines. Inquiries on adopting the rescued felines should be directed to the Champaign County Humane Society.
