Support MEDLIFE at WSU: A Service Trip to Guatemala

We are MEDLIFE at Wayne State University, a group of passionate students committed to improving access to healthcare, education, and essential resources for underserved communities. Last May, we sent our volunteers to Lima, Peru where they helped underserved communities in different areas of Lima. This May, we will embark on a medical service-learning trip to Antigua, Guatemala, where we will work alongside MEDLIFE staff to support communities in dire need. Over the course of one week, our volunteers will dedicate their time and efforts to making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

The majority of our week will be spent running mobile clinics, where we set up temporary clinics in underdeveloped areas. These clinics provide community members with access to essential medical services, including consultations with doctors, dental care, and pharmaceutical assistance—services they might otherwise not have access to. In addition to the mobile clinics, we will spend one day on a "Project Day," assisting with construction projects such as building stairs, schools, or other community infrastructure. These initiatives are designed to create long-lasting improvements for the people we serve.
