Support Megan's Transition Home After Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Megan.
My husband Dillon and I are raising funds to cover supplies we'll need as we adjust to my life at home in a wheelchair. I had a life-saving heart surgery back in April that took away my ability to walk.
I'll be returning home on September 5th after completing eight weeks in a rehab facility in Atlanta called Shepherd Center. While I'm grateful to have had access to such a facility, I have been hundreds of miles away from my home and family for months.
In addition to the much-needed supplies, we would also like to recoup some of the pay I would have made working at my job if I hadn't been on medical leave of absence for 5 months.
After weeks of back and forth with my job, we have also discovered that we will have to pay $5000 for a wheelchair ramp installation on our rental property just to get me in the house after my employer promised to cover the installation and then fell through. We are lucky enough to be able to afford the down payment but covering the rest without financial assistance will be a huge struggle for us. Struggle or not, the ramp must be installed. Otherwise, I will be unable to return home for an indefinite period as my rehab facility will not discharge me without a safe entrance into my home.
Dillon and I are newlyweds as of October 31st, 2023. This medical emergency and major life adjustment have left our financial goals even further out of reach than they seemed in the first place. We could use help regaining financial stability after two very difficult years full of health scares and uncertainty.
We will be eternally grateful for any donations, no matter how small.
