Support Megyn's Brain Surgery and Recovery

Our sister, daughter, mom, wife, and best friend, Megyn Albrecht, is facing one of the toughest challenges of her life. She’s been diagnosed with a large brain tumor—a 55mm suspected meningioma located in her left occipital lobe. The doctors are hopeful that it not cancerous, but we won’t know for certain until its removed. The tumor has grown large enough that surgery is her only option.

Megyn is the heart of her family. She’s a loving mom to three amazing kids—Owen (9), Olive (7), and Orla (3)—and the wife of Darin, who has been by her side every step of the way. But now Megyn needs a community to rally around her as she prepares for surgery and the long road to recovery.

What’s Next:

On February 24, 2025, Megyn will undergo brain surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Her neurosurgeon is optimistic, but the tumor’s size and location make the procedure complex. It’s attached to a critical vein, and while they’ll remove as much as possible, there are risks. She may experience vision problems, including difficulty reading and possible permanent vision loss in certain areas.

After the surgery, Megyn will need several weeks to months of recovery—and her doctors have advised her to rest without taking on any responsibilities for her children. For someone like Megyn, who pours so much of herself into her family, this is especially hard to hear.

Why Megyn Needs Help

Megyn doesn’t have short-term disability insurance, and her paid time off is very limited. While she’ll qualify for FMLA, it’s unpaid. On top of that, there will be medical bills, childcare needs, and the added costs of Darin taking time off work to care for the kids. It’s overwhelming, and the last thing Megyn and her family need is the stress of trying to make ends meet during this time.
