Support Mel and the Kids Through Their Grief

For many, Chris Toce is well known and respected for his passion, dedication and expertise in identifying talented AFL players. To Chris's family he was Harry and Sophia's beloved Dad, Mel's soulmate and husband, and Vito and Lois's precious and only son.

In May this year at age 41, Chris was diagnosed with advanced cancer after follow-up tests for a cough that would not go away. Life was turned upside down in an instant and each new test and consultation delivered an additional blow, with the cancer being treatable - but not curable.

Despite this, Chris was determined to fight and he bravely endured barrages of tests, fortnightly chemotherapy and all that came with it. He did everything he could to protect his young kids from the trauma of the situation. In the end all that fighting was not enough, as an infection in his chemotherapy port caused complications that he simply could not fight. He passed in the arms of his wife, mother and father on 16 October 2024 - a life cut tragically short.

As a sole trader, and now a single mother - the mountain of grief and the prospect of life without Chris seems insurmountable. Mel intends to take a few months away from her business to support the kids, grieve and rebuild. Many of those who know the family have been looking for ways to help.
