Support Melanie Curtis in Her Time of Need
Donation protected
I'm Lorri Devlin, RN, friend of Melanie Curtis. Melanie is best known as the dedicated, friendly face greeting all every weekend at the Historical Society of Santuit and Cotuit's gift shop in Cotuit Village. She has spent her time helping others (at Barnstable Land Trust and HSSC), and encouraging others to give to worthwhile causes. Now, it's her turn to receive.
Recently, Melanie was found barely conscious by her daughter Brittany and was rushed to intensive care. She was close to death from a life-threatening infection and had blood clots in both her legs and lungs. As doctors rushed to find out what was going on, tests revealed something more ominous. Melanie's problems stem from ovarian cancer, which has spread throughout her body. The infection she still has means chemotherapy is far too dangerous, and heart-breakingly, unlikely to help.
Her husband succumbed to cancer years ago, leaving Melanie a young widow with no funds to spare.
In the coming weeks, Melanie needs her village! Palliative care, transportation, meals, comfort measures, hospice and associated expenses will quickly drain this small family's meager resources, even with insurance.
Melanie is the kindest person I've ever met. She's always eager to help and support others, always with a friendly smile. Please, give what you can to ease her journey. We have increased our initial modest GoFundMe request-please, help us reach our new goal.
Blessings to all who have donated, and thank you!
