HELP MELISSA GERTZ FIGHT AND BEAT OVARIAN CANCER

My mom, Melissa Gertz, was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer in April 2020. That ovarian cancer spread all the way through her abdomen and her peritoneal lining. The doctors said that she has 3 to 12 months left to live. Melissa Gertz is the mother of two children, Carson and Destiny Gertz, and the wife of Jeff Gertz. Melissa went through extensive surgery and treatment, including a full hysterectomy, and six rounds of chemotherapy. She is the hardest fighter I know, she went through weeks of pain and nausea, and multiple painful iliuses. As Melissa began what seemed like weekly visits to the ER, the doctors noticed her Cancer marker in her blood work going up.
She was misdiagnosed for over 10 years. She went to doctor after doctor to find out why she was so fatigued and overweight. The doctors kept saying it was obesity and that she needed to go on a diet. She went on multiple strict diets but the fatigue and weight would not go away. Melissa explained to them her grandma and aunt died of ovarian cancer. Her doctors did not recommend a hysterectomy and we do not know why. She also saw an oncologist/hematologist for 4 years straight and got iron infusions twice a year. She explained to him her family history of ovarian cancer. That doctor unfortunately never tested my mom’s blood with a CA 125, that is a blood marker test for ovarian cancer. He tested for low thyroid and low iron but not for cancer for some reason. Finally, one day she went to the doctor because she was feeling so sick and demanded to get a CT scan. The CT scan showed that her whole abdomen was full of cancer.
Melissa Gertz is a strong believer in Jesus Christ. No matter what she goes through, she remains faithful to the Lord throughout her cancer journey. “If you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move any mountain standing in your way.” Instead of focusing on the negative of cancer she uses her cancer as a blessing towards other people. She has spoken at multiple churches during her cancer journey encouraging people not to take life for granted. God put you on Earth for a reason and He loves you no matter what you have been through. Her favorite bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” She continues proclaiming her faith in Jesus Christ to this day. Melissa is holding on the to the rope of hope and never letting go! The message Melissa is sharing is joy on the journey. She wants everyone to remember to love big, forgive big, and to share Jesus big.
Melissa Gertz is 54 years old. She has two children, Carson is 19 years old and is a freshman at Liberty University, Destiny is 16 years old and is a sophomore at Findlay High School. Her dream was to one day become a grandma. She is going to continue to fight no matter how hard the circumstances are. She knows that God has a plan in the midst of our trials and struggles.
Melissa was a missionary in India for 6 years. Throughout those 6 years she saw many people come to the Lord. To this day she is a witness to people everywhere she goes. She continues to spread the love of Jesus Christ no matter where she is at.
Her chemotherapy and treatments have costed tens of thousands of dollars. Much of these expenses are not paid for with the type of insurance that she has. All of the expenses on treatments have been a huge toll on our finances. She has recently been throwing up multiple times a day and her symptoms seem to be getting worse and it is very painful in her abdomen area. Please pray for a miracle for Melissa! We know nothing is too hard for God. Any amount of money would be appreciated, even $1. If you cannot donate prayers are greatly appreciated.
Melissa is keeping faith in the Lord throughout her cancer journey. Thank you for all those who have supported her and our family on this journey. We appreciate everything!
