Support Melissa Goldman's Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
Cancer, a word that brings forth such destruction and pain. However, it is evident that the strongest roots grow in the harshest of conditions, warriors arise from the depths of despair. Melissa is the epitome of said strength, a valiant fighter in her battle with this terminal and debilitating disease.
Recently, Melissa was diagnosed with stage four Colorectal Cancer, which metastasized to her liver. A few weeks ago, she underwent surgery at the City of Hope in Durante, California, to remove tumors from both the colon and liver. The tumors were removed successfully, thankfully. However, at a follow up appointment with her Oncologist, she was presented with the devastating news of the finding of yet another malignant tumor in her pelvic region. A tumor that at this time is not operable. On 4/9, Melissa will start the arduous, exhausting and most important fight of her life. She will have surgery on the 9th to have a Chemo Port, a small implantable device, placed inside her body. The port will be where her Chemotherapy will be inserted, 15 grueling cycles that we pray will give her a fighting chance of remission.
Melissa plans to continue working throughout her Chemo. Her goal is to maintain normalcy as much as possible for her mental well being and for that of her children, Maya and Noah. With that said, we all know that such a debilitating disease and such rigorous treatment will emotionally and physically be taxing. In speaking with Melissa regularly, the reality of her condition is evident. It may be impossible for her to continue with full time employment, and truth be told, finances should be the least of concerns, when prolonging her life is what is most exigent. I ask, as her friend of more than thirty-five years, that you look into your heart to support Melissa and her family with a donation, no amount is too small. Your contribution is a gift that will forever be embraced with gratitude.
Know this, today will never come again... therefore, be a blessing, be a friend, encourage someone, take the time to care, be someone's light amid the darkness. Be helpful in someone's time of despair, for that is the greatest gift you could bestow upon a loved one.
