Update:
Melissa has moved home and is receiving therapy and In-Home help. Proper equipment for her needs is being purchased. She is encouraged by the outreach of support from friends. Please share once again. Thank you for your help.
Sue Steiger and Dan Judd are starting a fund to assist Melissa Jacot's medical expenses. Melissa is battling an extremely aggressive case of Parkinson's Disease. Earlier this month, she underwent the deep brain procedure at OHSU to address this disease. She is currently in the St. Charles rehabilitation center in Bend. Melissa's physical challenges are increasing. Her recent mobility set backs now require her to use a wheel chair. She wants to return to her home. This will require professional in-home assistance. She is approaching the end of insurance coverage, and the road ahead is long and expensive.
Melissa has touched countless lives in her time in her 29 years in Bend as choir instructor at High Desert Middle School and Summit High School. We are hoping there is a large community of friends, colleagues and former students who can help her in these extensive recovery costs.
