Support Melissa Through Brain Cancer
Hello!
My name is Rachel, and I’m raising money for my best friend, Melissa. We met at university where we both study Interior Design, She really started to flourish this year in school as an incredible designer and such a fast learner, and has been so on top of her work, she was such an inspiration and huge motivator for me! Here is a picture of the two of us on a Pirate Ship off the shore of Toronto!
3 Years ago when Melissa was first diagnosed with Cancer at age 16, she had a brain tumour that caused her to temporarily lose her eyesight. She received surgery and radiation treatments, regained her eyesight, and has lived cancer free up until now.
Now...
On February 9th 2020, Melissa found out she had another mass in her brain. A week later the doctors reported finding three new masses in the same region of her brain as 3 years ago. They’ve been confirmed to be cancerous.
Melissa has had the support from her incredible family and friends to help her through this, and I wanted to start this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of the financial burden on her and her family. Since her first treatment, Melissa has had to take certain medications for the rest of her life to keep her brain functioning correctly. Since healthcare changes happened in Ontario, Canada, she now has to pay partially for the medicine keeping her well. I’m hoping that with the money raised from this, she can be able to afford not only her treatment but the aftercare involved as well.
Plans for the Future...
Melissa unfortunately has to put her degree on pause while she undergoes treatment. She’s now expected to graduate in 2023. With your help she will be able to focus on recovery, maintain her health post treatment, and eventually return to school to continue her studies without needing to worry about the financial stress.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Melissa’s story and I hope you can donate to our cause!
