On October 27th, I received news no father should ever have to hear: my 15-year-old son, Carmelo "Melo" Rosario, has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer known as Germ Cell Tumors, which has developed in the area between his lungs. To make matters worse, doctors discovered over 20 malignant tumors in both of his lungs.
Melo has always been a vibrant, full-of-life young man, full of energy, dreams, and an unstoppable spirit. Whether he’s making everyone laugh or striving to be the best in everything he does, Melo has always had a heart of gold. But right now, this incredible young man is fighting the hardest battle of his life—and we are asking for your support in his journey toward recovery.
Cancer is devastating, but we believe in Melo’s strength and resilience. However, the road ahead will be long and challenging. He will need immediate medical treatment, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and possibly even surgeries to give him the best chance at recovery. Along with the medical costs, we also want to ensure that Melo's quality of life remains as high as possible during this difficult time. We want him to stay positive, stay surrounded by loved ones, and continue to pursue his passions and dreams, even as he faces these tough battles.
