I have updated this fundraiser to announce Melonie's passing. Melonie passed away at home, with Nikki by her side, on September 20th. Fortunately, hospice was able to cover the cost of the cremation service. I am still asking for your help to support Nikki with short-term expenses such as utilities, rent, basic needs, and transportation.

In 2022, Melonie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had a very painful, albeit life-saving surgery. Earlier this year, at the young age of 61, Melonie was again diagnosed with cancer, but this time it is lung and liver cancer. Melonie began chemotherapy treatments soon after being diagnosed, but she ultimately decided to stop treatments and stay as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. Although Melonie received some at-home hospice care. Nikki was Melonie's sole caretaker around the clock.
