Support Mia's Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon

Hi there! My name is Mia, I'm 20 years old, and I love to run. I am very excited to announce that I have been given the opportunity to participate in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon which will be taking place June 1st, 2025. This would be my first triathlon, but my 6th formal endurance event. I’m very excited as an athlete to be able to push my limits and take on new endurance events.

The race starts in the San Francisco Bay, right next to Alcatraz. The first leg is a 1.5 mile swim through the bay, the second leg is an 18 mile bike ride through the hills of SF, and ends with an 8 mile run through Golden Gate Park.

However, as excited as I am to have been selected for the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon, the cost to participate is beyond my current financial capacity. So, I’ve decided to turn to my community for help, to seek sponsorships to help me cover the registration fee and other associated costs. My total goal is to raise $1,000 before December 1st (in order to meet the registration deadline), and even small contributions would help me out significantly. The registration fee is $865, and the leftover money would go towards gear for the race (wetsuit for the 55 degree water, hydration packs, etc).

I’m very passionate about running and endurance sports in general. I love pushing my mind and body to its limits to see what I can accomplish. In one year I went from never running to completing my first full trail marathon on Mt. Umunhum, competing in the San Francisco marathon, running the local Mt. Madonna Challenge half-marathon, and more. I don’t want to slow down now, I want to keep pushing and compete in more races and continue to grow as a person and athlete.
