Hi! I'm Jeanine and I'm fundraising for Mia and her recovery from leg amputation!
About 3 weeks ago, my husband had a dog wander up to him at his work, which is basically an industrial area of Houston. There are no homes around and she was hot, thirsty and hungry! He just couldn’t leave her there, so he brought her home. We named her Mia!
We tried locating the owners, we posted on Next Door and looked at lost dog sites and for posters, but no luck & no microchip or name tag on her collar.
She had a bad rash on her face & was limping on her hind leg, so we took her to the vet the next day. We were shocked to see the x-rays of the hind leg!
It appears that she may have been hit by a car as her left hind leg (Tibia) is completely shattered and will need to be amputated. We got her all her shots, and medication for her face and infected ears.
Despite what bad shape Mia was in when we brought her home, she was happy, friendly and loving! We have 2 rescue dogs ourselves, and she gets along fine with both (male puppy and adult female).
We believe Mia is Pocket pittie (or some type of bully breed) about 2 years old, weighs 44 lbs, spayed and Heartworm negative. We made the decision to get the crushed leg amputated as soon as we could so she would not be in pain. It was a long surgery, and after 2 days at the vet clinic she came home as happy and loving as she always is!
Mia is crate trained, house broken, doesn’t bark and loves everyone she has met so far. She loves to play ball! Even with her broken leg she was still interested in playing and chasing her ball!
Mia’s veterinary expenses far exceeded what we thought they would be when we took her home. We couldn’t do anything less than get her the medical care that she desperately needed. She deserves to be pain free, healthy and placed with a loving family that will cherish her for life!
We are in the process of looking for a rescue to assist with placing Mia in the perfect home. In the meantime, we are committed to fostering her until she is well enough to be adopted. We recently adopted our 2 rescue dogs, otherwise she would be staying with us!
All donations are welcome! If you can’t donate right now, we’d appreciate if you could share this with your family, friends and neighbors.
If you are interested in learning more about Mia, and possibly making her part of your family please reach out to us!
ALL MONEY COLLECTED WILL GO ONLY TO MIA’S VETERINARY EXPENSES. RECIEPTS AVAIABLE UPON REQUEST
Please help us give Mia the second chance she deserves!
