I'm Micaela Huapaya Franco. I'm a freshman at City of Medicine Academy in Durham and an activist for climate change and life.
Ever since I was little, I have been interested in learning and advocating for the world, for my friends, and for climate and peace. I have grown up reading article after article about climate change and wondering what solutions there are and why they are not being used when they are known. Climate change leads to deforestation, floods, and fires; it leads to the destruction of ecosystems and human lives; it is a global problem. After not finding answers to my questions, I searched for and met people who wanted to advocate for climate change like me.
I also discovered CCL, an organization that directly helps with climate change and its problems, that could help me find answers and give me a floor to stand up and use my voice for a necessary change. My goal is to raise the resources to attend the CCL National Conference in DC June to learn about climate change and, with the information I gain, to use my voice to bring about change. It may not be a quick process, but step by step, I know that there is hope and everything can be accomplished with it.
