Support Michael DeRosier Brain Surgery & Recovery

Michael was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor on March 15th, three days before his 35th Birthday. Here are his words:

 

 

“I first want to give all the praise and glory to JESUS, my Lord and Savior. God is so good. For the past several years, I have been dealing with migraines and double vision. Trying to figure out what was going on, I thought it was just my crazy work schedule and lack of sleep. The past couple of months, I have been in and out of the doctors for blood work and eye doctors to check my vision. My doctor referred me to a neurologist to look further into these issues. Everything seemed to have checked out ok, but right before I left his office, I told him when I get my heart rate up that’s when my double vision happens. This brought up a red flag so he recommended I get an MRI-MRA on my brain.

 

The morning of March 15th I got a call that still doesn’t seem real. I have a large tumor in my brain, a vestibular schwannoma, that is affecting two compartments, the temporal lobe and my brain stem. Yesterday, March 18th (Happy Birthday to me) we met with the neurosurgeon to discuss my course of action. Because of the size of the tumor my only option is brain surgery to remove it. I am thankful that it was found and that I am going to be in the care of an amazing surgeon. It’s a lot to process, the journey is just beginning. Coming back stronger. God’s got me”

 

 

The first and most important thing we need is PRAYER! God is so good and he is working out all the little details. The surgery is scheduled for May 4th. It is a 10-12 hour surgery with 24 hours in the ICU and another 2 days in the hospital. He will have at least 2-3 weeks down time and a long recovery.

 

We are trying to raise money for Hospital expenses that his insurance is not covering, lost wages due to him not being able to work (Costco & DeRosier Basketball Academy), as well as any unexpected costs that come up in his recovery! The goal is to try and get the funds raised prior to his surgery, so that he can take his mind off of the financial portion and focus on getting ready for the journey thru his recovery.
