Support Michael Rehak's Heart Recovery Journey

Hello, my name is Melissa Jenkins, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my uncle, Michael Rehak. Mike is a positive role model for his young daughter, the life of the party at any gathering, a loving uncle, and a little brother. Mike has always been the first to give to anyone in hard times, putting others and their needs before his own. He is a superhero in all of our lives. Michael has always been a fighter, but right now, he needs our help as he faces a serious health crisis.

In 2018, Michael underwent quadruple bypass surgery, and after making healthy changes to his lifestyle, he thought his heart troubles were behind him. However, on October 7th, while at work, he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. A quick-thinking coworker performed chest compressions until EMS arrived, delivering three rounds of defibrillation to save his life.

Michael was rushed to the hospital, where he received two new stents and was fitted with a Life Vest—a special device that will shock his heart back to rhythm if it stops again. He now has to wear this vest around the clock, only taking it off to shower. The road to recovery is long, and his doctors have advised that he cannot lift or strain himself, meaning he is unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.

Like many medical emergencies, this one came unexpectedly and with significant costs. We are asking for help to cover Michael’s monthly bills and living expenses while we work to find a more stable source of income for him.
