Support Michelle Murphy's Healing Journey

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am reaching out to you today to share the inspiring story of my dear friend, Michelle Murphy, and ask our amazing community for support.

Michelle is an incredible woman who has coped with unimaginable accusations. Wrongfully convicted in Oklahoma, Michelle served 20 years for the death of her son, Travis. Released and exonerated in 2014, Michelle has shown strength and resilience that inspires many. She is Oklahomas first woman exoneree, paving the way for others.

While serving on the Advisory Board of the Innocence Project, Michelle also speaks both motivationally and educationally. She is a beacon of light while providing hope for those in similar situations, while also working to educate society in prevention of future wrongful convictions. Since her release, Michelle worked in the same courthouse that served her this injustice, a brave advocate day in and out.

Recently, Complex Post Traumatic Stress symptoms have coupled with health problems making Michelle’s every day life difficult. This is the obvious culmination of years of trauma, living in survival mode and not having the resources or time to begin to heal these deep wounds.

At this time, Michelle has made a brave decision to leave everything she knows behind and move from Oklahoma to Montana with her dog Phoenix. She has the opportunity to take some much needed time for herself, to focus on health and healing.

As exciting as this big change is, it presents a new set of challenges. From car insurance to mental health care, there are some expenses that we hope to have help covering so she can take as much time as she needs while continuing to focus on advocacy work.

What we put into Michelle she will give back ten fold. If you know her, we have witnessed this in action already. Join us in rallying around Michelle, show her we believe in her and that she can “trust the process”.
