Support Microphone Mike's Recovery Journey

Hi everyone. I made this GoFundMe for our one and only, “Microphone Mike”!

A couple weeks ago Mike experienced noticeable pain while pedicabbing. After his symptoms would not subside, Mike knew something was wrong and went to the hospital. After several exhausting tests, Mike was diagnosed with a potentially fatal infection…Testicular Cellulitis.

Testicular Cellulitis is an “an uncommon but SERIOUS condition that causes inflammation of the scrotal skin” paired with immense swelling and pain in the scrotal region. If left untreated, it spreads in the bloodstream and becomes life-threatening.

Our Microphone Mike is currently in the hospital, unable to work, and will be placed on a catheter soon. According to his doctor, he is expected to recover on bed rest for the next 30-90 days. Until then, Mike will no longer be able to pedicab without full recovery.

In the 8 years I’ve known Mike, I’ve never seen nor heard him cry. Tearing up with him, I held space as he admitted, “I’m scared, Shylah..I’m scared..If anyone can be a good Cat Mom to Bella (his kitty cat), it’s you.” I told Mike that he will make it out of this and that I would absolutely take care of Bella if anything were to happen to him. Out of everything, Mike worries about Bella the most…That speaks volumes.

For those who only know Mike inside of the pedicab industry, are unaware of how generous he is. After a serious accident I had 1.5 years ago, Mike donated to me. He discreetly donated cash to avoid any sort of unwanted attention. He didn’t want me to praise him for it. He handed it to me then quickly rode away (silly Mike! ). Mike did it because he cared about my financial and physical struggle.

One day, he drove all the way to my neighborhood just to deliver a battery! For another instance, Mike drove 8 HOURS to drop off a generator to Sonny. Sonny was in shock by Mike’s deed that he devoted his time to visit Mike in the hospital.

We all know Microphone Mike as Microphone Mike, but I want you know that he’s a sweetheart, a warm guy behind closed doors. Unlike his signature name, Mike is NOT A MICROPHONE with his good deeds. I had no idea he helped Sonny until Sonny told me. And Sonny had no idea Mike helped me until I told him.

Let’s come together to help Big Mike, Microphone Mike in order for him to maintain the roof over his head, utilities, and food/shelter for Bella.
