You are welcome here!
Step into a space that invites you into sangha – community. Since 2009, Mighty Yoga has offered a supportive, safe home for treasured members and welcomed visitors to connect, learn, and grow through the practice of yoga.
"Thank you for giving me beautiful and physically/emotionally restorative practice options, even during what was a very hard year for everyone. Your classes brought light and peace in the most difficult times. In general, you all make me a better version of me. In many cases, I strive to be more authentic and true to myself because you are all such great examples of that." - Jessica G.
"Thank you so much for helping us through this difficult year. I don't know how I would have made it without you. Your classes have been a touchstone and a refuge." - Darcey L.
"You are an inspirational team! Thank you for being there during this tough time ." - Hannah P.
At the core of this community are our teachers who are dedicated to offering a holistic yoga experience, meeting students where they are through challenge, support, and a little side of humor. As the pandemic has required everyone to adapt, Mighty's teachers have demonstrated their dedication through creative yoga offerings and continually showing up in the face of uncertainty.
"In a time of uncertainty, I was so grateful to be part of this Mighty Community. In those first weeks of virtual teaching, I savored the connections we could still have via livestream. Though it looked and felt so different, the heart, the hope, and the care were still present in each virtual gathering. Our yoga practice had expanded to cultivating a community without the physical barriers of walls and doors. We could still come together from anywhere around the world! And after a year, as many of us put these teachings into practice, adapted to meet the ever changing needs, relearned what it means to be expansive, I am so encouraged by how resilient this Mighty Community of teachers and students--friends and family--has become." - Zainab Zakari
During these challenging times, we have endeavored to provide a safe experience for the entire community. Not only were we able to adjust the physical accommodations to continue offering small in-person classes, we expanded into a variety of virtual and outdoor practice opportunities. We also recommitted ourselves to active participation in our local and global community. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve donated over $10,000 to organizations like Black Visions Collective, Southside Community Center, the Nap Ministry, Ganondogan, Ithaca Health Alliance, The Haven, Give India, & the Equal Justice Initiative.
"My goal with Mighty has always been to positively impact our local and global communities through the practice of yoga. “I really feel like crap after that yoga class.” - Said no one, ever! The practice of yoga, both on and off the mat, touches lives - both our own, and those around us. I am so proud of and humbled by the ways we have touched our communities in the last 12 years. What I didn’t expect is how much our community of students and teachers would sustain and support me through challenging transitions in my life, and especially in this last year. " - Heather Healey
This past year has been a labor of love and a lesson in trust. Being in community means offering help and asking for help, so here we are. You trusted us to provide a safe harbor during this tumultuous time. Now we are asking you to support our shared future as a yoga community.
We need your help!
This is our humble request: We are asking for help in supporting your yoga journey by financially investing in our current operating expenses and future planning. Like so many local businesses, Mighty continues to be severely affected by the economic impact of the pandemic. Until now, we have been able to avoid permanent closure because of supporting members, compassionate landlords, and small business grants. We are committed to compensating teachers, while covering the logistical costs associated with maintaining a studio and paying our monthly bills. As we continue to move forward with hope, we want to create the best possible experience for our dedicated students and teachers. We're asking for funds to support payroll costs so we can continue to provide for our teachers and staff, as well as much needed studio renovations and repairs. We want to ensure that our space is safe and beautiful for all who walk through our doors.
In order to meet our operating expenditures through 8/31/21, which includes compensating teachers and staff, as well as making studio upgrades that will improve the member experience, we need to raise $10,000. This will supplement our summer income, which is traditionally a slower time of year at the studio.
Here are some of the expenses that we are incurring:
$4,000 painting in Ithaca space & bathroom renovation
$5,300 painting in Hanover space, lobby & bathroom renovations
$10,000 teacher & staff payroll
How you can help!
Listed below are some ways you can support our fundraising efforts. No donation is too small.
$20 lobby renovations
$30 bathroom renovations
$40 painting
$50 teacher & staff support
You are appreciated!
