Support Mike Bowling & Family

Friday May 4th began just like any other day for our little family. Mike came home from work and he wasn't feeling well. He was retaining water and very swollen. He went to the Mooresville Walk-in Clinic and his vitals were showing signs of heart failure.  He was immediately admitted to the ER where they attempted to stabilize him, his oxygen level was at a critical 40%. Urgently, he was transferred to St. Francis Heart Hospital. Mike was awake and talking to us on the phone giving his room number, telling us he loved us and to get some rest because Emily had a game in the morning.

In the middle of the night I get a call that they moved him to the Critical care unit,  and after sleeping for a little while,  he became  non-responsive and had to be intubated.  It has been 5 days since he was put on life support. The respiratory therapists  have reduced the level of his oxygen from 100% down to 60% which is a step in the right direction.

We will praise God for any little glimpse of hope.

He was moved into a special bed which rotates to ease the pressure from his lungs. This has helped a lot, bringing his oxygen levels up to 97%. The doctors are saying he is in very critical condition and they will keep him completely sedated and given paralyzing medicine that will keep him unaware of what is happening.

The doctor's say the next several days will be touch and go. Because of this, we are not allowing people in the room, giving him the peace and quiet he needs to heal as much as possible.

The doctors have asked that I stay here to be with him as much as possible as they don’t have all the answers yet and he is a very sick man. They are hoping to be able to do an echo cardio gram when he is more stable Unfortunately, there is no timeframe for his recovery. The tests he has taken so far show no blood clot in his lungs,  but they have found a touch of pneumonia and a low fever which is an infection brewing.

If you would like to visit us please call ahead and continue to pray for Mike Bowling.

We thank all of our family and friends for visiting; checking on us; bringing us food and giving us gas money over the last few days. We appreciate your generosity and concern so much. This is going to be a very long recovery for Mike, putting a huge financial strain on our family. I will exhaust all of my vacation and personal time from work to be by his side, which will go fast. After a couple of weeks I will need to go on FMLA without pay. We will do whatever it takes to be by his side through this...

We are asking, if you are able, to donate any amount you can for us to put aside for living expenses and medical bills to help at this very difficult time. If you are unable, please, please pray for Mike, Emily and myself. This has been a very scary time for us, and we are keeping the faith that Mike will make a full recovery. Thank you so much for caring  ❤️
