Support Mike Domine's Battle with GBM
Donation protected
Greetings! My name is Patty and I am fundraising for my husband, Mike Domine who was diagnosed with GBM an incurable brain cancer. He was in the prime of his life JUST started looking at retirement but not prepared for it because he had plans to keep designing and consulting when he did retire . In our repair/ manufacturing shop for the trailer industry he was constantly with customers wanting his services. It was HARD to even think to retire. He did not want t turn his "friends" down.
He is a man of high value and a friend to anyone he meets. You feel special when you meet him. He was a very hardworker and gave up so much to provide for his family. He brought up four children with the highest values and his grandkids all have such futures to be proud of and great grandkids that are following the steps of their parents.
The only wrong he did was not prepare for this situation. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT WE WERE EVER GOING TO HAVE TO FACE SOMETHING LIKE THIS .Like everyone else way of thinking...that day is a long time away. Like I wrote he was talking retirement but was going to stay active in the field. The person he is pictured with is our son who passed away SIX DAYS after Mike was told he had GBM. Corey lost the battle from a rare cancer that he fought for five years and is the only known survivor for that length of time. We stayed for our son's funeral and a few extra days to make sure all was ok with the family and then headed back to NC to start the path of surviving for as long as possible.
After going back to NC, New Years Eve Mike woke up with a full brain staph infection from the biopsy. New Years Day he went under a full brain wash out. And upon being put on an antibiotic he went into having severe seizures from apparently the med because about 12 hours after getting last dose his seizures stopped and he has not had any seizures since. But his days of walking and talking are very limited and his days of working and designing are OVER. Hes fighting for his life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His body is going thru so many ups and downs even tho two months ago he was taken off the chemo therapy because his MRIs have been great all year UNTIL a couple weeks ago....that MRI found a spot that has never been there so we are saying our prayers.
I want to warn so many to prepare for the worse......if it never happens...... you have been blessed but believe me....to be not ready is too hard....I have to start worrying about his meds the savings is not as good as we thought it was going to be because we were forced into retirement before we could add to the savings...the electricity...the car gas.... the food on our table and if he gets put back on chemo the cost of his meds.....Its beyond belief.
I do not like begging....we have always taken pride in coming thru on our own but his life means that much to me....I am begging for help.
I found out that being a caregiver 24.7 gives no room for outside financial making life and not being prepared except for a savings which sounded good at one time and life is starting to get in the way of concentrating on him. PLEASE in memory of someone who has gone thru something like this....as respect to him as a friend or acquantance please help us.
