To know Mike is to love him. What’s there not to love? Mike is a father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He’s a big Italian teddy bear, even though he’d never like that description. He has a gentle way about him that captures people’s attention. He’s the dad cheering on the sidelines at his daughter’s soccer game and the husband who would give the world to his wife, Jennifer, if he could. Mike is a family man, part of one of the best and close-knit families that some people could only dream of.

Mike is not just my friend; he’s my kids’ “uncle” and my husband’s closest and best friend. We would do anything for him. And that’s what I plan to do, with the help of you and our community.

Recently, Mike was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer, Medullary Thyroid Cancer. Unfortunately, it has taken an unbelievably fast attack on him and his organs. He is currently in the hospital, fighting with all his might.

While he’s putting his all into kicking this thing’s butt and overcoming obstacles, we need to fight with our guy—for him and his family. Mike is a Corrections Officer for the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department and has been working on-and-off in the jail since the diagnosis in spring. He decided to go back to work early in his recovery due to financial factors and leave balances.

We all know how daunting bills, living expenses, groceries, etc., can be. Now, imagine worrying about countless doctor visits, bills, and more. I can’t.
