Mike "Pops" Quintero
July 29, 1957 – December 8, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike Quintero, a beloved father, friend, and companion. Mike passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in El Monte, California, at the age of 67.
Born on July 29, 1957, Mike, affectionately known as “Pops” to many was a man of many qualities: kind-hearted, intelligent, strong, and always ready to lend a helping hand. A man of deep faith, Mike’s life was shaped by his love for God and his commitment to his church. He was a skilled handyman, always willing to assist others with any project, large or small. His strength, resourcefulness, and incredible work ethic left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Mike's love for life extended to his passion for the Las Vegas Raiders—a love that was truly unmatched. Pops was a proud, dedicated fan, and his loyalty to the team was well known to all who crossed his path. Whether it was during game days or friendly banter with his friends, Mike was always ready to proudly display his Raiders pride, often engaging in lighthearted rivalries with friends who supported other teams. His infectious spirit and enthusiasm for the Raiders were just one of the many ways he shared his joy and energy with others.
But beyond his love for sports, Mike was also known for his infectious sense of humor. He had a playful spirit and was always the life of the party, cracking jokes and sharing laughter with those around him. Mike was a true goofball at heart, with a knack for bringing smiles to people’s faces, no matter the situation. His laughter was contagious, and he always knew how to brighten the darkest days.
Above all, Mike was a loving and compassionate soul who genuinely cared for others. He never hesitated to offer support or encouragement to anyone in need, and his kindness and empathy will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mike is survived by his 12 children: Arlene, Mike, Felipe, Vicente, Stephanie, Natalia, Michelle, Joseph, Vanessa, Lisa, Destiny, and Felicia, as well as his stepchildren, Jonathan, David, and Andrea. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Leticia Suarez, who was a loving companion to him in recent years. Mike is also remembered by his many grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. His legacy of love, humor, and generosity will continue through his children and all who were touched by his presence.
A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at Guerra & Gutierrez Los Angeles Funeral Home in Montebello, CA. Details of the service are still to be decided, and updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
Mike’s laughter, his compassion, and his unwavering generosity will be deeply missed. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and in the many smiles he left behind.
As the family navigates this difficult time, they are in need of financial support to cover funeral expenses. Donations to help with the costs can be made through GoFundMe or directly to Arlene Moreno.
John 14:1-4: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."
