Support Minty Tadesse's Physician Assistant Dream
Donation protected
I am creating this fundraiser for Mintwab “Minty” Tadesse, a close friend and classmate in the MEDEX Physician Assistant program.
For the past 7 years Minty has been working towards her dream of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). She is a first-generation college graduate from an immigrant family who moved across the country to pursue this profession with the MEDEX PA program. Since age 18 she has supported herself through two bachelor’s degrees and halfway through the MEDEX PA program.
She currently serves as the Diversity Chair for the Seattle 57 student government where she leverages her tireless dedication to the community. Throughout our didactic year, she led initiatives like knitting hats, cooking meals, and collecting food and blankets for Tent City 3, showing compassion and action beyond the classroom. Despite financial, racial, and socio-economic challenges, she has excelled academically and professionally, maintaining an outstanding GPA.
Recently, Minty has incurred several unexpected expenses (medical, vehicle, etc.) Currently, she is unable to cover the most basic of needs of rent, utilities, groceries, and MEDEX tuition. She is at immediate risk of losing her housing, which has forced her to take an indefinite leave of absence from the program, potentially giving up any hopes of a career that she has worked 7+ years to get to. These funds will directly stabilize housing and food security.
MEDEX is a 27-month program, and she is more than halfway through the program. During this full-time program, students are expected to fully support themselves financially, even while traveling for rotations during the clinical year, often requiring paying double rent.
We’re asking for your help to raise $20,000 to begin to cover:
• Rent and utilities for the next 8 months
• Basic groceries and living expenses.
• Medical Bills
• Tuition and related clinical costs
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a huge difference. Minty has remained passionate about giving back to her community which she has proven time and time again through her volunteer work. It’s only fair that during this time of need, the community gives back. Minty is an invaluable student to this program, and more importantly, to the Physician Assistant profession.
